Finding Help From A Social Media Agency: Enterprises Build An ...

While major movers in the advertising scene may assume that more actual or ?organic? ways of marketing products and services like giving away pamphlets, setting up billboards, as well as holding special events continue to lure customers and prospects, there?s no question that cyberspace is a vital venue to get the word out about a company that must be seriously invested in. There?s hardly an individual to be found who has yet to own a single cell phone or set up an account for a social networking site for the first time these days; for the average adult, logging onto the Internet using a cell phone, laptop computer, or tablet computer is actually a regular activity (typically repeated many times a day), making the World Wide Web a very good place for enterprises to reach present customers and connect with potential new ones.

Where exactly, will these target people be found? The answer would undeniably be in social media sites. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, FourSquare, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Flickr, and WordPress blogging sites are some of the sites that millions of users check on everyday, and it is only rational for businesses of all sizes and across various sectors to reach out to their expected audiences in those websites. Just like with some other marketing efforts, people find themselves demanding expert support in managing many accounts at the same time, of course, if that?s the scenario, business people can get the assistance of an excellent social media agency. World companies can tell of a good presence across various social media accounts due to specialists navigating the web and taking advantage of it for its potential.

Having the ability to concentrate on one?s main business operations is one of the advantages companies will enjoy after hiring a provider specializing in social media marketing. World professionals can simply target a company?s ideal consumers and make deep and important connections with them through the social network accounts. With thousands (or even millions) of Internet surfers logged onto a particular site at any moment, there are plenty of good possibilities to make use of popular and word-of-mouth marketing and advertising through the buyers -that?s for sure free positive promotion at no extra cost to the company owner. Social media sites enable companies to have real-time feedback on their performance and their offerings.

Because any regular Internet user would know, most of the sites motivate customers to leave remarks, share information, and express their thoughts wherever possible; there?s no better or maybe less complicated way for companies to see both positive and negative messages from their consumers and change their services as necessary to meet the needs and desires of their market.

Because of an expert social media agency, businesses can build a good social media presence while keeping their customers up-to-date with new improvements and special deals, keeping them lured to remain connected and maintain an on-line connection. With better customer relations, there?s no other effect to be had except more generated business and strengthened customer loyalty.

A lot of businesses today are growing and with that they are now lured to hire a social media agency. London companies are already seeing the advantage for using it.

MLS roundup: Galaxy beat Whitecaps 2-0

Associated Press Sports

updated 12:59 a.m. ET Sept. 2, 2012

CARSON, Calif. (AP) - Juninho scored his sixth goal in his past five games and David Beckham connected on a late free kick to lead the Los Angeles Galaxy to a 2-0 victory against the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday night.

Juninho struck to the upper-right corner from 28 yards in the 41st minute after Robbie Keane redirected Hector Jimenez's pass from the right wing to put Los Angeles (13-11-4) ahead. Beckham curled a shot from 25 yards into the upper-left corner in the 79th for his sixth score in his last eight appearances.

The Galaxy have 10 wins, including seven shutouts, in their last 15 MLS games.

Vancouver (10-11-7), which has a five-point cushion in the battle for the West's final playoff berth, lost its fourth straight to match its longest skid since joining MLS last season.

REAL SALT LAKE 1, DC UNITED 0

SANDY, Utah (AP) - Will Johnson scored in the 49th minute to help Real Salt Lake beat D.C. United for its first MLS victory in more than a month.

Salt Lake (14-10-4) has shut out two consecutive league opponents after a scoreless draw against Philadelphia a week earlier.

United (12-10-5) is winless in four of its last five MLS contests.

After a scoreless opening half, Salt Lake took the lead on Johnson's goal in the fourth minute of the second half. Ned Grabavoy backed a pass to Paulo Jr. on the left side of the penalty area, and Paulo Jr. sent a cross into the 6-yard box that was deflected by DC defender Brandon McDonald. Johnson got his head under the deflected ball and knocked it home.

SPORTING KC 2, TORONTO FC 1

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) - Oriol Rosell scored his first MLS goal in the 87th minute, lifting Sporting Kansas City.

Paulo Nagamura had a goal and an assist for Sporting (15-7-5), which moved into a tie for the overall points lead with San Jose. Kansas City is 4-0-1 over its past five matches, while Toronto (5-16-6) is winless in its last seven.

Rosell, who joined Sporting early last month from Barcelona's B team, scored his game-winner from the corner of the penalty area on assists from Nagamura and Chance Myers.

Ryan Johnson put Toronto up 1-0 in the 44th minute, taking a pass over the top from Robert Eckersley and putting his left-footed shot past Jimmy Nielsen from 15 yards. Johnson missed a chance to make it 2-0 when his shot in the 49th minute hit the post.

Nagamura tied it in the 60th, his first league goal of the season. It came off a volley of a clearance attempt by Toronto's Jeremy Hall. The ball took a short bounce off nagamura's foot and sailed over goalkeeper Freddy Hall.

CREW 2, IMPACT 1

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Emilio Renteria scored in the third minute of stoppage time to lift the Columbus Crew over the Montreal Impact.

Renteria entered the match in the 77th minute and received a pinpoint pass by Federico Higuain from the left flank and scored from 12 yards out to give the Crew (12-8-6) their fourth straight win.

Montreal (12-14-3) appeared headed for its sixth straight win when Marco Di Vaio chipped a ball over goalkeeper Andy Gruenebaum in the 73rd minute to break a scoreless tie.

However, Higuain rescued the Crew with a 40-yard free kick that defender Chad Marshall headed in to tie the match in the 80th minute. Higuain has three goals and six assists in five matches since debuting with the Crew on Aug. 19.

UNION 0, REVOLUTION 0

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) - Matt Reis had seven saves to help New England play to a scoreless draw with the Philadelphia Union, extending the Revolution's winless streak to a franchise-record 10 games.

New England (6-14-7) has not won since beating New York on July 8, going 0-7-3 since to drop from sixth to ninth in the standings. The Revolution were also shut out for the 10th time, tying the franchise record set last year.

Zac MacMath made three saves for the Union (7-13-4).

Before the game, New England announced leading scorer Saer Sene will miss the rest of the season due to a torn ACL, an injury sustained during Wednesday's match against Chivas USA.

After scoring six first-half goals in their previous three games, the Revolution failed get their first shot until a header by defender Stephen McCarthy in the 61st minute.

The Union didn't do much with the few chances they were afforded, either, as their best chance came from a Amobi Okugo's header in the 43rd minute that bounced off the bar.

Kelyn Rowe had a chance for New England in the 63rd minute after he went down the right side and attempted to cross it into the area before MacMath went to the ground to smother it. In the 66th, Kevin Alston managed to find the first Revolution shot on the target when he lofted a mild effort that fell right to MacMath.

New England found its best chance to score in the 85th minute when Rowe redirected a deflected shot that MacMath walled up at the far post.

Why Are Trace Chemicals Showing Up in Umbilical Cord Blood?

umbilical cord blood, minority umbilical cord blood, umbilical cord blood chemicalsMINORITY REPORT: A 2009 study sponsored by the Environmental Working Group and Rachel's Network found traces of 232 synthetic chemicals in umbilical cord blood samples from 10 different babies of African-American, Asian and Hispanic descent born in 2009 in different parts of the U.S. Image: StockByte

Dear EarthTalk: A few years back a study found over 200 chemicals in the umbilical cords of newborns, particularly African-American, Asian and Hispanic babies. What are the causes of this phenomenon and what can be done about it??Bettina Olsen, New York City

The study referenced found traces of some 232 synthetic chemicals in cord blood samples from 10 different babies of African American, Asian and Hispanic descent born in 2009 in different parts of the U.S. Study sponsors Environmental Working Group (EWG) and Rachel?s Network were looking to find out if the hormone-disrupting chemical Bisphenol A (BPA), a plasticizer widely used in food and drink storage containers, is present in the cord blood of minority babies in the U.S. Sadly and not surprisingly, BPA turned up in nine of the 10 cord blood samples tested. But perhaps even worse is the study?s detection of whole new raft of chemicals showing up in babies? cord blood for the first time. Some of these newer offenders include tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) from computer circuit boards, synthetic fragrances used in common cosmetics and detergents and Teflon-relative perfluorobutanoic acid.

The 2009 study was a follow-up to an earlier analysis of chemicals in cord blood in the mainstream U.S. population during 2004 births. That earlier study found some 287 different industrial chemicals and pollutants in babies? cord blood, although BPA was not yet on EWG?s watch list at the time. The more recent study focused on minority babies because minority communities in the U.S. tend to bear a disproportionate pollution burden given their closer proximity to busy roads, industrial sites and older housing. But EWG points out that they tested for chemicals that are likely found in virtually every American household, so none of us are immune to exposure. EWG hopes that by continuing to monitor the chemicals we are born with it can hold corporate polluters? and government regulators? feet to the fire in regard to waste outputs and pollution mitigation.

EWG did not look for chemicals associated with smoking or alcohol consumption on the part of mothers, instead focusing on contaminants from exposures to consumer products and commercial chemicals omnipresent on supermarket shelves. To EWG, the presence of these chemicals in umbilical cord blood represents ?a significant failure on the part of the Congress and government agencies? charged with protecting human health. ?Our results strongly suggest that the health of all children is threatened by trace amounts of hundreds of synthetic chemicals coursing through their bodies from the earliest stages of life.?

Part of the problem is outdated laws governing the handling and use of toxic chemicals. Currently 1976?s Toxic Substances Control Act is the law of the land in regard to controlling the distribution, use and disposal of toxic chemicals nationwide. But EWG and other groups complain that hundreds of thousands of new chemical formulations are unleashed on an unwitting public every year via America?s store shelves because the federal government assumes new products and ingredients to be innocent until proven guilty. These critics would like to see the federal government take a more proactive role in approving new substances for use in consumer products, not to mention residential and workplace environments.

On the legislative front, green groups are pinning their hopes for a reformed Toxic Substances Control Act on New Jersey Democratic Senator Frank Lautenberg?s Safe Chemicals Act (S. 847), introduced last fall. The bill is currently spinning its wheels in committee hearings, but its 17 bi-partisan co-sponsors are optimistic that it will come up for a floor vote before the 112th Congress wraps up the end of this year.

Apple Puts Chomp Acquisition to Use in iOS 6 App Store

Six months after acquiring San Francisco-based startup Chomp, Apple is finally getting around to integrating the mobile search engine into its operating system.

Apple's iOS 6, expected to debut this fall alongside the next-gen iPhone, will include a redesigned app-searching layout, as evidenced by a recent update to the OS beta version.

According to 9to5Mac, which first reported the changes, the iOS 6 App Store displays applications in swipeable cards, where searchers can see the app title, the five-star rating system, and a button to install the app on your iPhone or iPad. This appears above a screenshot of the app, much like you would find on the desktop version of the App Store.

The new interface is reminiscent of Chomp, which formerly made app discovery tools for Apple and Google's Android products, using an algorithm that learns the functions of apps, then allows users to search based on what an app does, rather than its given title.

In late April, Apple dropped Chomp's Android support, and rumors swirled that Cupertino would revamp its App Store with the help of the newly acquired Chomp.

Meanwhile, iOS 6 may be putting more emphasis on the Genius recommendation tool, since the button is displayed more prominently in the center of the options listed at the bottom of the store. It is hard to tell what Apple's Genius intentions are, since the feature has apparently not fully come to fruition in the beta version.

9to5Mac also reports the addition of the user's "purchased" section to the display, for retrieval of previously downloaded apps.

Not to be overlooked, the revamped App Store will also return the ability to search for podcasts, an option in iOS 5, but one that is hidden from most viewers' line of sight, 9to5Mac said.
